Moonshine Cabin = Delight for our Senses!

Our retreat to Moonshine cabin was a delight for our senses!  The sight of this majestic ranch with its unparalleled mountain/valley views, the sound of the babbling brook and the birds and creatures of nature, the touch of the smooth natural stone counters and the hewn wood beams of the great room and natural porch rails, the smell of the clean crisp morning air along with the plants and trees surrounding this luxurious cabin truly made this a perfect place to rest and reinvigorate from our very busy lives!

The little details such as the handmade soaps, the fresh wildflowers in the house and on the porch, the hummingbird feeder to attract the hummingbirds, the candles found in the wooden holders on the dining table and outdoor seating area, the small wooden cross hanging on a rail of the master bedroom porch, the picnic area set up over the brook, the selection of novels and books that enticed us to curl up in front of the fireplace, or on the rocker on the porch to read, The staff who greated us, and were on the ranch during our stay were very welcoming and informative, and truly made us feel like we were at “home”…

We will return, God willing so that as a family we can experience this magnificent place again, and I personally so that I can finish the Wayne Caldwell novel I started during this perfect vacation in the beautifully appointed Moonshine Cabin!

Pamela K,

Fabulous experience!

This was our second stay at Moonshine Cabin. On this trip we brought our whole family...six adults and 2 children...and had a wonderful, memorable vacation together! The log home is exactly as described, the views are outstanding, and the owner is a great communicator and very attentive to any needs or requests. Georgina works constantly around the ranch, keeps everything in immaculate condition, and is a joy to work with. The home has all the finest appointments yet has a cozy, homecoming feel. The beds are fabulous. This property is on the top of our list of favorite places to stay in western NC!

Wonderful Vacation Spot

We just completed a week up at this home and are happy to report that it lived up to its previous great reviews in every way. We truly enjoyed the home, it's fine amenities, and the surrounding area that holds stunning beauty. From hanging out on the porch listening to the creek run by to cooking in the kitchen with all high-end appliances, this home was our social hub. The kitchen was truly functional. Not just a few pots and pans, but eveything you need to cook a meal (except the food, of course). So many places are really only set up for light meals. The home is great for kids and adults. Awesome for a two family meet-up. And one of the most relaxing places we've stayed. A great escape from the Florida summer heat.

All of our past family vacations have been chalked full of activities and must sees but this vacation we wanted to do absolutely nothing but relax.  We struck gold! When we  walked in we knew our vacation would be stress free and relaxing in this home.  The owner has created a peaceful, gorgeous and comfortable retreat. It is very well thought out and the decor is absolutely beautiful.  The screen porch was our family's favorite. The mountain view just leaves you in awe.  In fact my son insisted on sleeping on that porch the first night.  We ate many of our meals on that porch because you never tire of the view.  My family loved the outside trails, creek and fire pit.  We brought along our bocci balls and enjoyed many games outside in the beautiful yard.  At night, the landscaping is lit and the fire pit just calls for roasting Marshmellows.  My husband is quite the chef and found the kitchen a dream, very well equipped, but I think he liked the Bose iPod player best.   There is even an outside grill.  My favorite, the porch by the creek, a reading and napping nook that is heavenly.   Although we were looking for relaxing, Asheville is only 30 min away, and Waynesville only 15.  Don't miss the Mast General Store in downtown Waynesville. We also drove up to the Elk in Cherokee national park, less than an hours drive, go in the evening to catch the elk.  Not to far from Moonshine, We found a place called Fergasons, a gas station, diner, general store.  (You feel like you stepped back in time.)  We can't stop bragging about our vacation to our friends and family.  This vacation will go down as one of the best vacations for our family. Thanks to Georgina for creating a piece of heaven.  We can't wait to come back!

Kim U,

A Perfect Vacation Spot

What a magical home in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. And Moonshine is a home. Warm, beautifully decorated, blissfully comfortable beds,a well-equipped kitchen, and outdoor porches that draw guests to linger and relax are all in this special place..

My husband and I, along with another couple, enjoyed a wide range of activites including zip lining at Navitat, hiking the waterfall trails in Brevard, sightseeing in Asheville and Waynesville, golfing in Champion Hills.

Honestly though, the most fun was the time spent at Moonshine. We built a fire in the pit every evening, watching the day become night. We kept the windows open to hear the sound of the creek that runs along the side of the cabin. We cooked dinners late at night with our friends and watched it rain while having coffee on the sleeping porch. We took hikes on the property and discovered our own waterfall.

Of course I would recommend this rental to all, it will not disappoint.

Bonnie F,

Beautiful house & property, great stay

Four of us (2 couples in our late 20s) spent a great few days here in December. The house was beautiful - even better than the pictures. The gas-assist wood fireplace made for some cozy nights relaxing in the living room, and the spacious, well-equipped kitchen was a pleasure to cook in for all of us. Georgina told us about the hiking trails on her property and gave us a map, and we took full advantage (warning - it's hilly!). All in all, a great stay. We hope to return.

Sarah R,

New Years at Moonshine Cabin

We had a magical New Year's Eve celebration in Moonshine Cabin! The house is amazing - elegant decorations, fully equipped with everything you might need from the kitchen to all bathrooms, very clean and light! The owner of the house was very nice and helpful. The area around the house is very beautiful and well maintained. We were very excited when it snowed and we took many pictures in the woods around the house. The owner prepared a book with all necessary information for us from directions to nearest stores to booklets about all activities in the area. I will definitely recommend this cabin to all my friends and hoping to come back in summer!

This is an amazing house on an amazing piece of property.  My husband and I and our two kids (7,9) spent true family time in this beautiful oasis.  There are cows and goats on the drive in, which the kids loved and plenty of green space for the kids to run around.  We went into Asheville and Waynesville daily.  We were able to go skiing and horseback riding and to the Cherokee Indian Reservation.  We did plenty of hiking, marshmallow roasting, and movie watching.  This is the perfect house to just get away and enjoy your family.

Shannon P,

Perfect escape.

The owner has thought of every detail to make "Moonshine" the perfect escape. The linens, pillows, decorations, views, outdoor furniture, hiking trails, magnificent fireplace, kitchen appliances, hand soap in each bathroom, and landscaping are perfection. When you leave the cabin for a daytrip, you can't wait to get back. We look forward to staying at this beautiful retreat someday soon.

Kim R,

If you like the outdoors and serenity, but insist on luxury, then this is the cabin for you!

My family and I stayed a week at the Moonshine cabin and we all were amazed at the serenity of the location and the luxury of the cabin. No expense was spared building this cabin and the attention to detail is like none I have ever seen. The quality of the furnishings are 1st rate as well and the beds were the most comfortable that I had ever slept on. The views from the screened porch are second to none and if you are adventurous enough to climb to the top of the mountain via the wonderful network of marked trails, you will be rewarded with views that make you feel that you are on top of the world! We spent a day in Hot Springs and rented a tub for a soak in the natural hot mineral water and it felt great after a day of hiking the Milima Ranch. We also spent a day in Waynesville at the farmers market and small town shops and had a blast. You are right in the middle of a lot of things and within 45 minutes of the tons of activities in all directions. The owner is extremely accommodating and is devoted to making sure that all in your party have a great time. The organization of information of surrounding activities and information about the cabin is beautifully done and you do not have to search for anything. If you like the outdoors and have a high quality standard, but like the idea of a true rustic cabin in the woods experience, then this is your place to spend some quality time with friends and family.

It doesn't get any better than this!

We had such a wonderful weekend at Moonshine Cabin.  The view from the comfortable screened porch was spectacular, with the leaf colors changing every day.  Sitting and reading on the side porch by the brook was so relaxing.  The site photos don't show how roomy the cabin is or the wonderful architectural details.  You had everything ready from the fresh flowers to the wood stacked in both fireplaces.  Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be returning.

Exceptional, Extraordinary and Exquisite from start to finish.

Our group was overwhelmed by Moonshine Cabin!  Other reviewers have said it, but it's true that the photos do not do justice to this amazing property.  8 of us stayed here over a holiday weekend.  None of us are "couples," and we had more than enough room to spread out, and bedrooms and bathrooms were more than adequate - no one was ever waiting in line for a shower.  The property itself was fabulous.  We had beautiful views from the screened porch (one porch out of many).  The landscaping was quite lovely and complimented the beautiful mountain views provided by nature.  There are wonderful hiking opportunities just out the door so that one morning we walked those trails.  In fact, we were so thrilled with the cabin, that we really had to pry ourselves away to go do some pre-planned trips into the Asheville/Waynesville areas.  Our hostess was very helpful and welcoming, and we can't say enough about how much work she must have done to furnish the cabin and to maintain the entire property.  Will we go back??  Oh my, yes!  However next time, we plan to "schedule" more time hanging out at the cabin - pure luxury!  Thank you for your hospitality!!

We just got back after a 1-week stay and really didn't want to leave. This place is magical. It has a rustic log cabin feel with all the luxury  amenities you could think of. When you arrive you get a welcome letter from Georgina that says that they put a lot of love into this cabin... and you really feel this love. It reflects in every little detail of this property, from beautiful handmade furniture, to gorgeous outside landscaping and soft lighting, to overall serenity that place offers. We love the screened porch, where we had almost all of our meals while grilling downstairs. Kids and adults alike enjoyed the campfire (at a  very nicely  set  fire pit) with plenty of wood provided. My other favorite place was the balcony on the side of the house with the day bed where you can relax while listening to the birds and the creek that is running right by the house. For hikers there several trails starting right outside the house. There are also beautiful horses on the property that Georgina kindly took us to feed - kids were soo happy. Thank you Georgina for a wonderful time and everything you did for us. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to come back soon!

Amazing cabin and property!

My family spent a month at this cabin over the summer, and could not recommend it highly enough.  Everything about it was wonderful!  The private trails right out the back door were great for hiking, and the view out the front is absolutely beautiful.   Beautiful wildlife, and the landscaping made grilling out back by the bonfire so cozy.  We cannot wait to return in the fall to see the leaves change and to pick apples off of the apple trees!  The inside of the cabin has every modern convenience including great internet connection, which was very beneficial since my husband had to work from his laptop daily over the month.  We had our two sons with us (5 and 8) and they loved exploring and shooting their bows and arrows!  The furniture, decor, and linens are all total luxury and top of the line...making for a luxurious experience!  We found ourselves not wanting to leave.  Everything was super clean and well maintained, and there was plenty to do in the towns nearby.  We visited Ashville as well as Waynesville more than once.  Great shopping and dining in both towns. The host was most gracious in accomodating our every need!  We have high expectations, and we were thoroughy impressed and pleased.

Incredible views and a wonderful house!

We loved Moonshine Cabin. We lived on the porches looking out at the mountains. The views are amazing. The trails on the property were very popular.  We made s'mores in the outdoor fire ring!

I would come back to the cabin in a heartbeat!

It's everything you hope for and more!

We stayed at Moonshine Cabin from June 19th-26th 2011. What a relief

from the Alabama heat and storms. Cool enough that we didn't use AC at all. The screened porch is a sensation, but there's not a bad spot in the cabin. The guys hiked all over the mountain-to the horse pasture- to the hidden, sunken picnic site. Each day we were treated to another day in

the gorgeous Smokies . From Georgina's notebook of brochures, we

found the elk preserve, Biltmore Village and lots in downtown Waynesville. My husband said on leaving, "A 400 acre wildlife preserve

and it's all yours!" Georgina is a total pro and lovely to work with on your trip. Her cabin is a jewel!!!

Incredible Getaway!

What an incredible getaway!  Being an interior designer, I was quite impressed with the thought given to create a high end mountain cabin that is comfortable in every way.  Fabulous bed linens, well equipped kitchen, so many spots to relax that it was hard to choose where to settle in.  The house is an ideal place for a group of family/friends or a quiet respite for a couple to recharge.  Being there during the summer was a nice escape from the SC heat and the beautiful property encouraged roaming and hiking on the many trails that were right outside the door.  The house truly offers everything you could want from a mountain vacation and the value of the rental charge for the type of accomodations provided is unparalleled!  The owner gave us a kind welcome and has quite a knowledge and passion for the property and how to take advantage of what to do and see while visiting.  I am looking forward to a return visit soon!

A wonderful, magical property.

I stayed at this property last year. I have an upcoming week at this property beginning 13 Oct. 2012. I have failed to write a review mainly because I am selfish and wanted to keep this property out of the media as much as possible, I'm sure not the sentiments of the owner.  This property presents itself as secluded, affordable, and beautiful, with all the ammenties.  The owner Georgina has all the charm and knowledge it takes to make the moments there even more rewarding. The best location in the North Carolina mountains

Mountain Escape

“Escape - to break free from confinement”  as defined by New Oxford American Dictionary aptly describes the wonderful Easter weekend we spent at Georgina’s mountain cabin.  Our welcome was graced with fresh flowers and a friendly greeting from the Owner herself.  And every amenity we sought was provided for in the makeup of Moonshine Cabin, a reflection of the thought and consideration that went into creating this secret gem at HomeAway.  The stunning mountain views and soothing murmurs from a playful creek as it wound its way down the mountainside were sights and sounds to heal the soul, a welcome relief from the city.  The hike to the top of “Georgie’s Mountain” was a definite highlight.  The grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed their Easter Egg Hunt within the gardens at Moonshine Cabin.  There is no doubt we will be back.  And our son-in-law is also planning a family reunion for his family after experiencing the wonderful atmosphere that provided such a lovely backdrop for our family get together. Thank you, Georgina, for making it a memorable one!

Crazy Black Horse.

When can we return.

My wife and I were looking for somewhere to go for a quiet weekend.  After spending several hours on my computer looking at dull and dark cabins, I found Moonshine and knew my search was over.  We were there from Friday until Sunday.  Georgina (the owner) was very responsive to my questions prior to arrival.  She also e-mailed me the day of our arrival to see if we wanted to arrive early because the weather was supposed to be pretty on Friday, but poor the other days.  We took her up on her offer.  Although the pictures at are what sold me on the cabin, the cabin is actually more beautiful than the pictures and it is decorated in perfect taste.  In addition, everything in the cabin is new and clean.  It looked like we were the first guests to ever stay there.  This is simply a "five star" property as another reviewer noted.  There is a gorgeous view from the front of the cabin.  At breakfast and supper we would sit at the dining room table and enjoy the view with our meal.  My wife and I did not take advantage of the outdoors because we were there to rest; but we will next time.  We did go to Waynesville, which is easily accessible.  Waynesville has a pretty downtown with a lot of shops and restaurants.  My wife and I consider ourselves to be polite, but picky.  And even with places we like, we always have a conversation later about how this or that could be better.  But we had no such conversation about Moonshine.  Our only conversation has been when can we return.

Just what we needed!

We had a fabulous time at Moonshine Ranch. We have 3 little girls: 8,6 and 2 years old. We enjoyed such a great family time together. We read books on the sleeping porch, played games in front of the gorgeous fireplace and hiked together. The grounds are amazing and so refreshing. The bubbling brook passes right by the cabin. It was a great time to reconnect and slow down. The house is so unique. It is beautifully made and so much fun to be in! We enjoyed coffee every morning on the porch overlooking the mountains. It is not far to the Biltmore and we enjoyed a day exploring there as well. Our girls loved it. They watched cartoons in the morning on the TV that was in their room. My daughter spent time drawing in her journal in the loft. Georgina is so pleasant and kind. She went above and beyond to make sure that we had a wonderful stay. Everything was impeccable when we arrived. We also enjoyed horseback riding with Parker and Francisco. The girls really enjoyed it and they were able to modify the ride to meet their needs. Thank you so much Georgina! We can't wait to come back. What a hidden gem Moonshine is!!

Excellent !! Does not Say enough!

What a delightful experience! Looking at the pictures made us want to rent this property, but actually arriving and finding it to have even more comforts and amenities than we expected! From the gourmet kitchen ( We love to cook), to the most comfortable beds all with luxury linens and private bathrooms, all brand new,the most incrediable views, and 400 acres of our own to hike on and give us our much needed privacy, easy acess to anywhere we wanted to tour, made this one of our most memorable vacations ever ! Would rate this as a 5 star Property, which we hope to be able to rent every year !

I would say that the owner has understated the home and surrounding land!!  This is such a great vacation home!!!  I was looking for a quiet, peaceful place to relax and let my broken ankle heal.  I ever so enjoyed the oversized leather recliner (that is do die for) to put my foot up on and sit by the warm beautiful fire.  I must mention the bed that I slept on,  pillow top, so comfortable to snuggle in and watch the sun rise!  This home has everything that I needed or thought I might need.  I stayed for three nights and four days with friends of mine and look forward to a return trip!  The kitchen was totally equipped for any type of meal you might chose to make!!  My friends had the pleasure of enjoying the large mountain acreage and hiking in the snow while I enjoyed the satellite television and relaxing fire.  I understand that the home comes with wi-fi if you would like to use the internet.  This vacation home is like none I have ever seen, nothing even comes close.  I have rented cabins in the northern part of Minnesota where the scenery on the lakes is grand, in Colorado with their mountains, but this home/cabin is the absolute best that I have stayed in.  The homeowner has thought of every tiny detail!! All I can say is that if you have seen the pictures of the home, you must see this house in person!!

Friends and all can't wait to make this trip again!

A Holiday to Beat...

I can say with complete and utter honesty that my stay at Milima Ranch was the best vacation I've had since Christmas in Austria years ago! Who knew that such a multifunctional paradise existed in America, much less on the East Coast? The sweeping mountain ranges and indescribably sweet, clean mountain air evokes scenes from films such as The Last of the Mohicans, and  music from artists such as Doc Watson and the Stanley Brothers. Truly, you will feel as though you are sitting at the heart of Appalachia, a cornerstone in early American mythology and folk tradition. I sincerely and desperately look forward to returning!

Escape to a paradise

We traveled to this pristine getaway to escape the regularities of our day to day life.  Upon our arrival we were engulfed in a fairytale of adventure.  From hiking to skiing at a quaint mountain village and discovering all the individual characteristics of a gorgeous mountainside.  The views were spectacular!!!  The trails were a favorite for the whole family!!    The cabin is one of a kind!!  Much thought went in to every detail.  Spacious for all to find their nesting place.  My daughter particularly loved the porch which overlooks a stream with water rushing and birds chirping.  My boys loved the Xbox after a day of skiing, hiking and playing in the snow.  I enjoyed the couch, curled up in front of the fire with a good book while my husband enjoyed the gourmet kitchen after a great shop at an organic whole food grocer.  Waynesville is only 12 miles away with quaint shops and great restaurants!  Asheville a bit further has everything to offer including the incredible Biltmore Estate.  I would highly recommend that you visit this Clyde cabin retreat.  You will definately rest well in the private,  luxurious bedrooms to awaken to nature and peacefulness surrounding you at every angle.  We will definately revisit this site in the future.  It's a favorite!

Mike and Amy, TX

I have had the occasion the know Milima Ranch through three seasons ! (I have yet to make spring.) Imagine making Milima your 4 season getaway!! The summers are filled with warm, blue-sky days and cool nights; the fall's autumnal colors provide the color play one believes in for the season; and the snows of winter amaze one with the pristine, all-to-ones-self landscapes.

The home is just that; a beautifully, personally appointed creation by Georgina. She has not stopped shy of establishing the comforts and beauty she would bring to her own family all year long.

You can create memorable days with friends and love ones at Milima Ranch.... sharing great meals from the beautiful kitchen where there is room for everyone to help or one can work alone and still be in the "thick" of it; sleeping without a care through the peaceful nights in plush, cozy beds and linens; exercising up the mountain trails or  languorously taking in the mercurial views from the deck. And, if you like to shop, Waynesville is a  pretty cute NC mountain town with some good restaurant options and there is always Asheville...
